Part of SUMMER AMUSEMENT

Pastoral Affection

Sung by Mrs. Weichsell at Vauxhall Gardens

In Spring the verdant fields,
In Autumn hills I love,
At morn, the flow'ry plains,
At noon the shady Grove.
But Colin's ever dear,
When forc'd from COLIN'S fight,
Nor flow'ry plains at Morn,
Nor Groves at Noon delight.

Like Autumn ripe his bloom,
Yet mild as breath of May,
More bright than beams of noon,
Yet fresh as early day,
E'en Spring may Winter prove,
When Colin shines not there,
But blest with him and Love,
'Tis Summer all the Year.
